Candidate Suitability

This certificate  is for experienced Level 3’s who have never gained a qualification or whose qualification is out of date (pre1989).  You will need to have been working at Level 3 for between 3 & 5 years and be over the age of 25 yrs, This certificate is an accepted qualification on the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) National Qualifications Framework at L3.  It has the same status as any other vocational related qualification on the childcare part of the NQF at the same level.  Suitable candidates would be: Nursery supervisor/manager, Head of room, Team leader, Pre-school leader, Crèche leader, Playgroup leader, SENCO, Nursery nurse, Nursery Officer, Childminder. 

Course programme and content

This is a reflective and not a taught course so you will be drawing on your past knowledge and experience working within this sector. The course is completed via distance learning using a toolkit and the guidance of a mentor

Course duration

The course is completed at your own pace and time i.e 24/7. It can be completed within a matter of weeks or you may take up to 3 years after registration

Assessment method

This is via completion of a ten section portfolio supported by two professional testimonials. The portfolio is marked by a scrutineer and if it passes the required minimum score it is then submitted to the City & Guilds panel to be considered at their next meeting.
